Do you own a horse or pony?Some Counties run separate watch schemes for horse owners, farmers, businesses and homeowners. In Cambridgeshire, Countryside Watch has been set up to incorporate all of these groups into one scheme, not just because it is more cost effective for the members but more importantly it encourages the whole rural community to look out for each others property. This way we never miss a vital piece of information just because we don't all share the same business type or recreational pursuit. Currently around 30% of our members are horse owners, including large stables, racecourses and tack stores. With tack theft proving an increasing problem within the County we have purchased specialist tack marking equipment and encourage everyone to use this facility. |

The Benefits of Membership |
||
Tack Marking |
Members of Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch can have saddles marked with their unique mark as shown
right. Each saddle has it's own number and a registration of owners is
held by Cambridgeshire Constabulary. This service is currently FREE to
members and a small donation is requested from non-members. |

We also offer electronic tagging which involves the installation of a tiny passive tag into the saddle, to ensure your saddle is identifiable as yours at all times. More than 3500 scanners are currently in use by the police. There is a small charge for this service. |
||
Voice Mail Messages |
Each member of Countryside Watch receives voice mail messages; direct to a landline telephone number of their choice, informing them of crimes and suspicious incidents in the local area. Should horses, horse tack or horse trailers/boxes be targeted in anyway in the County then Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch endeavours to ensure our membership is informed and asked to look out for suspicious vehicles and/or persons. IT WORKS - stolen horseboxes have been recovered in Cambridgeshire with the use of our voice mail system. Stolen horses have been recovered in the same way. |
|
Visual Deterrents |
Each new member of Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch receives, with their first years subscription, either one large or two small Countryside Watch Secured Area sign(s). These are for display on entrances to property. Window stickers are supplied for vehicles and additional stickers are supplied when tack is marked. |

Security Equipment |
Countryside Watch loans to members security equipment such as security alarms, electric engravers & die cast stamps. We also use our group buying power to purchase other marking and security products and pass on our discounts to members. Repeat victims of crime may be loaned (free of charge) other security equipment, such as alarms, to assist detection of returning criminals. |
